Immediate Past President
Andrew Cook, PRSSA 2018–2019 immediate past president, is a graduate of Brigham Young University (BYU) with a B.A. in communications with an emphasis in public relations. He now works on the Edelman employee experience team in Chicago, Ill. supporting several clients across a variety of industries.
Cook first discovered PRSSA during his sophomore year after being invited to attend a BYU PRSSA Chapter meeting by his professor, Dr. Christopher Wilson. As a BYU PRSSA Chapter member he served on the public relations and awards committees and as the Chapter’s vice president of awards/historian.
Cook served on the PRSSA 2016–2017 National Committee as vice president of advocacy prior to his election as National President of the PRSSA 2017–2018 National Committee. As President, he oversaw the Society’s development internationally and internally and led the PRSSA 2017 National Conference in Boston, Mass. and the PRSSA 2018 National Assembly in Miami, Fla.
He discovered a passion for social innovation through undergraduate experiences with the United Nations Foundation, TEDxBYU, BYU’s Ballard Center for Economic Self Reliance, and the Said Business School at Oxford University.
Cook loves to travel and always looks for opportunities to connect with public relations students wherever his journeys take him. Some of his favorite international travel destinations include Machu Picchu, Peru, London, and Patagonia, South America and he is currently enjoying exploring all of the fun neighborhood areas within the Chicago metropolitan area.
Cook has found many friends, mentors and life coaches through his PRSSA involvement. He is passionate about mentoring students and helping them along their educational journeys as they prepare for a career in public relations.
