Andrew Young, PRSSA 2018–2019 National President, is a senior at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) majoring in public relations with minors in organizational communications and business communications. He is currently serving as an Assistant Account Executive at ReviveHealth, a Weber Shandwick Company.
Young began his time with PRSSA his freshman year as the MTSU PRSSA secretary. From there he went on to serve as vice president of public relations and Chapter president. He began his National involvement through his time as on the National Subcommittee of Advocacy where he focused on diversity and inclusion. During the 2017 National Assembly in Seattle, Young was elected the 2017–2018 vice president of external affairs where he managed the Society’s diversity and inclusion, high school outreach, globalization and external affairs initiatives.
As National President, his goal is to further the Society through strategic diversity and inclusion tactics, furthering educational opportunities outside the classroom and advancing the overall member experience.
He has held six internships in research, nonprofit, politics, corporate, boutique agency and global agency environments. Currently, he serves as the marketing and communications associate for the United Way of Rutherford and Cannon Counties.
Young was also recognized by the MTSU College of Media and Entertainment with the PRSSA Merit Scholarship.
When he is not working or doing classwork Young can be found reading a good book, scrolling through Twitter or watching the Golden Girls.
