NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware (UD) PRSSA Chapter recently created a summer hashtag – #UDPRintern – for its members to use to share their public relations internship stories through Twitter.
“I wanted to create a way for members to stay connected during the summer months,” said Natalie Hines, public relations director for PRSSA-UD. “It is also a great way (for our members) to showcase what they are spending three months learning.”
The popular hashtag sparked adoption from Temple University’s Chapter using #TUPRintern in a similar manner. The hashtag collects members’ insights and gives other students an understanding of different public relations industries.
“Reading and learning all about social media at my internship today! Here’s the view! #UDPRintern,” tweeted Joey Silver, referring to the view from his office window. A senior University of Delaware member, Silver is interning at Humble TV, a commercial production agency.
The University of Delaware’s Career Services Office Twitter account recently began retweeting UD PRSSA tweets and also created a spinoff #UDintern hashtag. At the end of the summer, PRSSA-UD plans to compile a Storify of the #UDPRintern tweets, awarding a prize to the member with the most valuable tweets.
