NEWARK, Del. — The Public Relations Student Society of America at the University of Delaware collaborated with six on-campus a cappella groups to host their first official fundraiser, Thursday, Sept. 26. The event showcased a total of 18 a cappella songs and raised more than $300 for PRSSA-UD to attend the PRSSA 2013 National Conference in late October.
“The PRSSA-UD community and a cappella fans joined together and listened to unbelievably talented students,” said Nicole Sullivan, PRSSA-UD finance and fundraising director. “It was truly a collaboration and joint effort of six UD registered student organizations, which is an event that most students will never experience.”
The six groups to perform included the D-Sharps, the Deltones, The ChaiNamics, Vision, The Golden Blues and the MelUDees, featuring songs from Taylor Swift, Josh Groban, Maroon 5 and more. PRSSA-UD also raffled off three gift cards to audience members.
PRSSA-UD’s fundraiser not only raised funds to help send 10 members to National Conference, but it also publicized the a cappella community of talented students. In the future, PRSSA-UD hopes to continue this event each semester, offering public relations services to all a cappella groups on campus in exchange for their support.
