PRSSA Executive Director
Jeneen Garcia has served as PRSA vice president of education (and earlier as director of education) since January 2001. A native New Yorker, Garcia began her career at PRSA after graduating from New York University in 1991 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. After serving as assistant director for the PRSA Counselors Academy and Technology Section, she became director of education and then vice president of education.
While she describes all of her experiences with PRSA as incredibly valuable, she finds her current job of working with students to carry out their academic and professional goals to be the most rewarding. In that capacity, Garcia has been instrumental in helping PRSSA take strategic steps to remain cutting edge as a pre-professional Society. Through ensuring the organization’s diligence in social media and the offering of scholarships, awards and professional development resources, the efforts of Garcia and other members of the PRSSA department have continually advanced students’ academic studies in public relations. Garcia emphasizes, however, that PRSSA members serve in all leadership capacities and remain a student-driven, self-governed organization, proving that not only do they believe in their own abilities but desire to grow in every aspect of public relations.
Garcia hopes to continue to promote the value and benefits of PRSSA membership and exemplify the importance of students transitioning to become PRSA members upon graduation. She strives to make students aware that PRSA offers an exceptional community of public relations professionals who are ready and willing to support new professionals and provide a wealth of lifelong learning opportunities.
