National Committee Updates
Register for National Conference
August is here which means schools and PRSSA meetings are back in session. Please make sure to fill out the Chapter Officer form if you weren’t able to do so this summer or if there have been changes. Now is also the time to register to attend the PRSSA 2017 National Conference which will be held Oct. 6−10. Registration closes Friday, Sept. 8.
Now is a great time to work on pieces to pack your portfolio. Consider writing a Progressions and/or FORUM article before applying for fall internships. Topics range from current events and industry news, to professional development, social media and more.
PRSSA Diversity Month
August marks National Diversity Month and this year PRSSA is working to make this the best one yet. With Progressions posts, a PRSA Webinar, a Twitter chat and a completely updated Diversity Toolkit with a sample PowerPoint presentation.
#PRSSANC to benefit Rosie’s Place Women’s Shelter
As your Chapter registers for Conference, start thinking about how your school will be contributing to the Community Service Initiative. This year, PRSSA has paired with Rosie’s Place, a women’s shelter in Boston. Consider conducting a drive on campus or gathering money from local businesses to purchase donations in Boston. Get creative and help us give back.
Have you thought about Chapter recruitment yet? A recruitment packet will soon be arriving in the mail, but in the meantime check out the recruitment resources on the PRSSA National website.
International internship outreach has begun, and Canada is first on the list. The Internship Center currently has one new Canadian internship, and many more are expected to be posted in the upcoming weeks. Stay tuned for a poll on social media where students can vote for the following month’s featured location. Nationally Affiliated Student-run Firms are also still eligible to submit their proposals to assist the PRSSA National Committee with the Internship Center, Career Development Month and more. Deadline to apply is August 18, 2017.
Whether you’ve just graduated or you plan to graduate this winter or spring, PRSA is the right way to put your best foot forward in the profession. It’s never too late or too early to begin thinking about your transition, and as a PRSSA member, you get a discounted PRSA member rate upon graduation.
School is almost back in session which means it’s time to start planning your Chapter’s events and brainstorming new fundraising ideas for the year. Don’t forget, there is still time for your Chapter to decide if they want to host a Regional Conference, the deadline to apply is Sept. 9.
