Vice President of Career Services
Alyssa Murtagh, 2018–2019 vice president of career services, is a senior at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. She will graduate in May 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in journalism strategic communication with a social media certificate and a specialization in women’s, gender and sexuality studies.
Murtagh joined the Ohio University PRSSA Chapter her first day on campus. She has been to PRSSA National Conference every year beginning with her freshman year in Atlanta. In addition, she co-presented a Chapter development session at the National Conference in Indianapolis and served as a delegate at the PRSSA 2018 National Assembly in Miami.
In her role as her Chapter’s vice president of member relations during the 2017–2018 school year, Murtagh revamped the Chapter mentor/mentee program and supervised 26 sets of upper and underclassmen.
Murtagh’s passion for career services stems from her time working for the Ohio University Career and Leadership Development Center as a student ambassador. For the past two years and counting, she has conducted mock interviews with undergraduate and graduate students, facilitated leadership workshops to students all across campus and worked one-on-one with students on resumes, cover letters and job-hunting tips and tricks.
Murtagh has held three internships throughout her college career in three locations: Pittsburgh, Salt Lake City and Columbus, Ohio. After graduation, she hopes to work at an agency in a big city and hopefully return west one day.
When she is not hustling and bustling, Murtagh can be found talking about her love for Ohio University, hanging with friends and family and exploring nature with a strong coffee in hand and good tunes in ears. She plans to visit every national park in the United States during her lifetime.
