Vice President of Events and Fundraising
Bryar Keyes, 2017–2018 vice president of events and fundraising, is a junior public relations major with a minor in event management at Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri.
Keyes joined MSU’s PRSSA Chapter his sophomore year and was elected as the public relations chair. During this time the current executive board more than tripled the membership of the chapter and developed programs for the students.
During his time, Keyes used his skills in networking and coordinating to plan and execute the three largest events in the MSU Department of Communication. He has worked in the Office of University Communications, writing press releases and news about Missouri State. As well as working as an intern at the Nixa Public School district.
As PR Chair of MSUPRSSA, he attended regional conferences and served as the delegate for the 2017 PRSSA National Assembly in Seattle, WA.
It was the advice and ushering of Jon Kovach Jr. that pushed Keyes to run for VP of Events and Fundraising, and concreted the idea at the OU PRSSA Regional Conference, “Find your passion Sooner”. It became the driving force for Keyes, knowing that he wanted to be as involved nationally as possible.
Keyes credits Ms. Jerri Lynn Kyle, his adviser at Missouri State, as a mentor who helped him launch his professional career. Her leadership and tutelage have helped to make a more well-rounded individual out of him than he could expect from a professor.
Keyes is working on creating a more developed chapter at MSU, as well as establishing the student-run firm as a nationally affiliated one.
In his free time, Keyes enjoys going to his log cabin, disconnecting from the world and enjoying the peace and quiet of the river. He also enjoys traveling, cooking and using the oxford comma.
