Vice President of Events and Fundraising
Emily Zekonis, 2019-2020 vice president of events and fundraising, is a first-year graduate student at West Virginia University. Emily is studying integrated marketing communications with an area of emphasis in management. She previously graduated from West Virginia University in May 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in strategic communications with an area of emphasis in public relations.
Zekonis joined WVU PRSSA during her freshman year of college and was elected chapter treasurer and fundraising chair, serving in these positions for two years until completion of her undergraduate studies. During her tenure, Zekonis had the opportunity to serve as a member of the PRSSA National editorial team and as a 2018-2019 regional ambassador. In March 2019, Zekonis served as the co-coordinator for West Virginia University’s first regional conference, Wired and Wonderful: The Reach of Digital Storytelling.
PRSSA has given Zekonis a home and a network of friends she cannot imagine her college career without. She strives to give back to the society during her term as vice president of events and fundraising through fostering meaningful connections and helping chapters succeed.
Zekonis will be serving as WVU Reed College of Media’s Online Programs events and marketing graduate assistant during her studies. In her free time she enjoys traveling, running and live music.
