Vice President of External Affairs
Andrew Young, 2017-2018 vice president of external affairs, is a junior at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) studying public relations with a minor in business writing. Growing up a stone’s throw away from Nashville has allowed him to grow up around southern hospitality, sweet tea and sweeter music.
Young found PRSSA his freshman year when the president of the MTSU Chapter walked into the wrong room on the first day of class and tried to play it off by talking about PRSSA. He served as secretary, public relations director, president and subcommittee of advocacy member under Andrew Cook.
While serving on the executive board of his chapter, Young also held four internships as a research assistant, communications intern at a nonprofit, event coordinator and directing intern for a state representative and communications intern for a lobbying association.
Young was also recognized by the College of Media and Entertainment of MTSU with the PRSSA Merit Scholarship for 2016-2017.
Outside of school Young enjoys spending time with friends and family and has memorized every line of The Devil Wears Prada by heart.
Young is passionate about animal rights and volunteers at his local animal shelter weekly. He also serves as a member of the Tennessee Voters for Animal Protection political action committee.
